The benefits of engineered timber flooring

Not all floors are created equal. Engineered timber offers the look and feel of solid hardwood, but with a smarter, more stable construction. There’s a reason why homeowners, designers, and builders are choosing it for their new spaces.

Built to handle real life

Daily wear and tear? No problem. Engineered timber flooring is constructed to stay steady under pressure — with a layered core that reduces movement and keeps your space looking sharp over time.

Stability in every season

Melbourne’s weather can shift on a dime, but your floors shouldn’t. Our boards are designed to minimise expansion and contraction, so you get year-round performance with minimal fuss.

The hardwood look, only smarter

Each board features a genuine hardwood veneer (real timber on top, supported by an advanced core underneath). It’s high-quality, structurally sound, and indistinguishable from traditional solid timber once installed.

Sustainable by design

Our engineered floors are created with less waste and smarter sourcing. That means fewer trees used per home, and more efficient use of each one. It’s an eco-conscious choice that looks and feels right.

Designed for design

From wide planks to refined textures and tone variations, engineered timber opens up a world of aesthetic possibilities. Whether you lean modern, coastal, or classic, this is quality flooring that fits your vision.

Value that lasts

Engineered timber offers premium performance without the price tag of solid hardwood. It’s a cost-effective solution for long-term beauty (and one that doesn’t ask you to settle).

Frequently Asked Questions

What is engineered timber flooring?

Unlike traditional solid timber flooring, engineered timber flooring is made up of multiple layers of wood. The top layer is natural hardwood (known as a hardwood veneer) while the core is constructed from durable, cross-laminated plywood.

This layered build improves structural stability, reducing expansion and contraction from humidity or temperature shifts. The result is a long-lasting, high-quality flooring option that looks and feels like solid timber.

How does engineered timber compare to solid hardwood flooring?

Engineered wood flooring offers the same premium aesthetic and natural texture as solid hardwood, with superior stability. It resists warping, gapping, and movement (particularly in Melbourne’s variable climate) and is more sustainable due to its efficient use of timber.

Is engineered timber flooring in Australia environmentally friendly?

Yes. Engineered timber is considered an eco-conscious choice thanks to its efficient use of raw material. Each board uses less slow-grown hardwood and more fast-renewable timber species, reducing waste while maintaining a beautiful timber surface.

All of our engineered timber comes from sustainable forest management suppliers and is PEFC® (Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) or FSC® (the Forest Stewardship Council) certified.

Can engineered timber flooring be installed over existing floors?

In many cases, yes. Our flooring options can be installed over a range of subfloors, including concrete and existing wood. Chat with our team to find out if your subfloor is suitable for our engineered timber flooring products.

How long does engineered timber flooring last?

With proper care and maintenance, engineered timber flooring can last for decades. The lifespan might vary depending on the thickness of the top hardwood layer, the quality of installation, and the level of foot traffic you have in the space.

Can I refinish engineered timber flooring?

Yes, depending on your wear layer. Most engineered timber floors can be sanded and refinished at least once or twice — refreshing the surface and extending the life of your flooring without the need for full replacement.

How do I maintain my engineered timber flooring?

Maintenance is pretty straightforward. You’ll just need to sweep or dry mop regularly, vacuum to remove dirt and debris when needed, and occasionally damp mop using an engineered timber cleanser (we recommend Loba products).

Can I install engineered timber flooring over underfloor heating?

Yes, you can. Because of its stability and heat conductivity, engineered timber works seamlessly on underfloor heating systems.

Is engineered timber flooring pet-friendly?

Absolutely! Its durability and resistance to scratches make it a great choice for households with pets.
