With all the renovation shows on TV at the moment, it’s easy to see why people think that sanding back their timber floors will be a breeze. Unfortunately, sanding and polishing timber floors can be quite an undertaking and a lot of DIY home renovators find out too late that they’ve taken on too much. With our experience floor sanding Melbourne, we’re here to discuss why refinishing your floors is best left to the experts.
You’ll get better results
Unless you have experience in sanding back and finishing timber flooring, you’re just not going to get the same results compared to a professional. They have high quality machinery and materials to ensure a stunning finished product and will give a polished, flawless result.
Your floors won’t be damaged
It’s not just a lacklustre final look you need to worry about when you sand back your floors yourself – in many cases, you can also cause real damage to the timber. Many home renovators find that they’re left with large drum marks which are even more obvious once the finish is applied or they sand back far too much wood. The professionals will respect your timber and you won’t be left with damage.
You’ll save time
Never underestimate how long it can take to sand back your floors, especially when you’re doing a large area. While the professionals have the skill and experience to finish the job quickly and to a high standard, a DIY job will inevitably take longer and you could find yourself working away on your floors for much longer than expected.
Your finish will last longer
Although there are a plenty of timber flooring stains and polishes available to the home renovator, they tend to not last as long as the finishes used by the professionals. This is due to them having access to high quality products and also preparing your floors perfectly so the stain penetrates and the finish adheres properly. With a professional job, you can expect the finish to last for years.
You won’t have the mess
There’s no two ways about it – sanding your floors back is a messy business and a lot of DIY home renovators find their home consumed with dust when they try it for themselves. The experts have the equipment and experience to keep the mess to a minimum and, best of all, they’ll deal with it so you don’t have to.
