Hotel Sorrento

The Brief
Some places become part of your story. For many Victorians, Hotel Sorrento is one of them, woven into summers past and present. Where celebrations are shared, traditions continue, and new memories are made with every visit.
Hotel Sorrento has welcomed guests through decades of changing seasons, and its recent transformation was never about starting over. The brief was to introduce a refined new chapter while holding onto everything people have always loved about the place: the warmth, the familiarity, the sense of arriving somewhere that already feels like yours.

The Floor
Throughout the new guest suites, we supplied our engineered European oak, Calypso, from our Habitat selection in 190mm wide boards. A warm, inviting foundation with natural texture and soft tonal variation that draws on the coastline just beyond the windows, without competing with the view.
It’s a floor built for a different kind of everyday: not one household, but a steady procession of guests, season after season, for as long as Hotel Sorrento keeps welcoming people back. Projects like this continue to shape how we think about commercial timber flooring, where experience, longevity and materiality come together.
