Carbon neutral,
meet carbon negative.

Cork flooring is the epitome of sustainability. Made from the regenerative bark of the cork oak tree, cork flooring is renewably sourced.

Better yet, the process doesn’t harm the cork tree, and the manufacturing is designed to have the smallest possible ecological footprint. It’s a win-win-win!

  • 100% natural and completely renewable.
  • We do not cut down trees to harvest cork.
  • Carbon negative – the cork production and manufacturing process produces a negative CO2 footprint.
  • The Mediterranean cork forest processes 14 million tons of carbon dioxide each year.

Cork by Kustom Timber® is sourced exclusively from sustainable cork growing regions in Portugal.

Using techniques passed down through generations, cork is harvested cyclically without any damage to the tree, producing a completely regenerative and sustainable product.

The properties of cork make it an all-purpose problem solver, suitable for a wide range of housing and commercial applications.

Going above and beyond, naturally.

Allergen Inhibiting

Cork flooring’s anti-static nature makes it resistant to dust, allergens, and toxins, making it an ideal option for a cleaner home. The natural antimicrobial and water resistant properties actively prevent the accumulation of trapped dirt, dust, germs, mold, and mildew, actively promoting a healthy and hygienic environment.

Uniquely Tactile

Ever enjoyed the springiness of a wine cork? Imagine that gentle bounce underfoot, easing joint pressure and enhancing overall comfort.

Durable and Versatile

Soft yet resilient, cork’s cellular structure makes it resistant to dents, scratches, and daily wear and tear.

Sound Absorber

Cork is a natural sound absorber due to its honeycomb structure filled with air which absorbs the sound and vibrations. Cork Flooring is a perfect choice for home theaters, media rooms, offices and conference rooms. It is exceptionally efficient for use in houses and apartments where noise reduction is critical.

Naturally Insulating

Cork Flooring Installation FAQs

It’s an exciting time when you’ve chosen your brand new floorboards – your home will soon be transformed! Of course, one of the most important aspects of the whole process is installation. Understandably, you may have a few questions, so today we’ll be taking a look at some of the most commonly asked questions we get about timber flooring installation.
How durable is cork flooring?

Natural cork flooring is very durable. With proper care, it can last 40 years or more! Our cork products are naturally resilient and can bounce back from minor dents thanks to their natural cellular structure.

How does cork flooring impact indoor air quality?

Cork is a great choice for those living with allergies or asthma. It’s naturally hypoallergenic and resistant to dust mites, mould, and mildew. It also doesn’t trap allergens like carpet does.

How do I care for cork flooring?

Cork flooring is relatively low maintenance and designed for everyday living. Regular sweeping or vacuuming, along with occasional damp mopping using a recommended cleaner, will help keep the surface looking its best.

We also recommend using felt pads under furniture, avoiding excessive moisture, and cleaning spills promptly to help maintain the finish over time.

Can cork flooring be installed in any room?

Cork is a highly versatile flooring solution suited to almost every area of the home. Its warmth underfoot, acoustic softness, and natural comfort make it especially well suited to living spaces, bedrooms, kitchens, and home offices.

We generally recommend cork throughout the home, with the exception of bathrooms and wet areas, where ongoing moisture exposure can affect long-term performance.

How does cork flooring handle moisture and spills?

While cork flooring is naturally water resistant, it’s not entirely waterproof. Cork flooring handles everyday moisture and spills well when cleaned promptly. Its natural cellular structure and protective coatings help resist surface moisture in typical living environments.

We generally recommend cork throughout the home, excluding bathrooms and wet areas where ongoing moisture exposure can impact long-term performance.

Does cork flooring scratch?

Like any natural flooring material, cork can scratch with heavy impact, sharp objects, or abrasive wear over time. However, its resilient surface has a natural ability to compress and recover, helping to minimise the appearance of everyday marks and indentations.

Using felt pads, maintaining furniture protection, and regular cleaning will help keep the floor looking its best long term.

Is cork flooring suitable for homes with pets?

Absolutely! Cork flooring can be a great option for homes with pets. Its softer, resilient surface is more comfortable underfoot, quieter than many hard flooring options, and less prone to showing minor scratches and everyday wear.

As with any flooring, we recommend keeping pet nails maintained and cleaning spills promptly to help preserve the finish over time.

How is cork flooring installed?

There are two main methods of installation: floating floor or glued-down cork flooring.

For floating floors, an underlayment is placed first. Cork planks are then clicked together over the subfloor. Glue-down installation involves applying adhesive to the subfloor and pressing the cork tiles into place.

Both methods ensure a seamless, durable finish. We recommend professional installation for best results.

Is cork flooring suitable for commercial use?

Yes, cork flooring is highly suitable for commercial use. It can perform exceptionally well in commercial environments when specified correctly. Its natural acoustic softness, comfort underfoot, and durability make it well suited to hospitality, wellness, retail, workplace, and boutique commercial spaces.

Beyond performance, cork brings a quieter, warmer, and more considered feel to interiors, making it a strong option for projects where both function and atmosphere matter.

Can cork flooring be refinished?

Yes, certain cork flooring products can be refinished depending on the construction and wear layer. In some cases, the surface can be sanded back and re-coated to extend the life of the floor.

Maintenance requirements can vary between products, so we always recommend speaking with our team to determine the most suitable care approach for your specific cork floor.
