Douglas House is considered a transformation of a character-filled Victorian residence in Williamstown. Designed by Home by MM and built by Mancini Made, the home honours its heritage bones while opening up to a contemporary, light-filled life. Restored period details sit comfortably alongside a relaxed, open-plan layout — a home that feels both rooted and refreshed.
At its foundation, our Black Japan 190mm flooring from the Habitat collection anchors the interior palette with depth, warmth, and a quiet, enduring sophistication.
The Details
There is a calm confidence to the interiors at Douglas House. Natural textures, soft curves, and a carefully layered material palette work together to create a cohesive atmosphere that never feels forced. Large openings to the rear living spaces draw natural light deep into the home and blur the boundary between inside and garden.
The Black Japan boards do more than ground the space; they give the interior its tone. Warm metallic accents, natural stone, and softly layered surfaces all find their reference point in the flooring beneath them, creating a sense of continuity that carries through every room.
Original architectural character is never erased here, only refined. The result is a home that respects where it came from while belonging entirely to the people living in it now.
